The white parts were done with white charcoal pencils.

Pinch Me!

These are some clay pinch pots the 6th graders made. Not much to say, I think they speak for themselves. They turned out really good.

These are the top and bottom views of the bowls.

Stellaaaaaaa!

These are some "3-D paintings the 7th and 8th grade students made based on the painted sculptures of Frank Stella.

They cut different shapes out of cardboard and painted them with acrylic paint.

After they painted the shapes, they hot glued them together. They were supposed to focus as much on the negative space between the shapes as the shapes themselves.

Slow Week

Not really a slow week, I just don't have any pictures to show this time around. The elementary students are making Valentine cards to send to the troops overseas, the 6th graders are working on a couple of different things, and the 7th and 8th graders are working on a pretty big project. Consequently, I have nothing to show right now.
On another note, Mrs. Robertson is heading up an effort to collect money for the Haitian relief effort, and I think the kids are really stepping up, so please keep those donations coming in. When you hear about things like the 14 day old baby being found alive and in good health, it gives you a little bit of hope.

Welcome back, everyone, for the second semester at ASFL. I hope everyone is rested and refreshed and ready to make some more beautiful artwork. And let's all hope the second half of the year goes by as fast as the first half. Time flies when you're having fun.

Here is my trophy wall at the school.

These are some papier-mache masks the 7th and 8th graders made inspired by some African ceremonial masks we looked at.

This was a project that took a long time to finish because it had so many steps, but the results were great.

What's really weird is that I've done this project a few times, and I've never had kids make animal-inspired masks before, and this year I had three do it. They didn't copy each other or anything, it just happened that we ended up with a rabbit, an elephant, and a fox.
